Girl Scouts of Suffolk County is Long Island's largest youth-serving agency. For over a century, Girl Scouts has instilled in generations of girls the skills and knowledge to become young women of courage, confidence, and character who speak out and lead. Today, Girl Scouts of Suffolk County (GSSC) delivers its message of empowerment and engages more than 11,000 girls of various backgrounds and communities. The Girl Scouts of Suffolk County is growing. Guided by an ambitious plan and its dynamic team, GSSC aims to expand its footprint to every community in Suffolk County and make Girl Scouting possible for every Girl who wishes to participate.
The Director of Finance provides strategic and hands-on financial leadership for Girl Scouts of Suffolk County and serves as a key financial advisor to the CEO, senior leadership team, Treasurer, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors. The Director of Finance is responsible for the day-to-day financial operations, including general ledger accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, accounts payable and receivable, payroll accounting, nonprofit fund accounting, grants management, internal controls, compliance, and audit preparation. In addition to managing and developing the finance team, the Director of Finance is expected to actively participate in preparing, reviewing, and reconciling the organization's accounting records and year-end audit schedules. The Director of Finance reports to the CEO and serves on the Senior Leadership Team. As such, the Director may collaborate with other Senior Leadership Team members on projects as they arise.
