Healthcare Construction Consultant - Schedule & Project Controls Job at PDC Partners, United States

  • PDC Partners
  • United States

Job Description

PDC Partners is growing, and we're looking for an experienced construction professional to join our consulting team.

High autonomy. Low bureaucracy. High expectations.

This is not a traditional scheduling role. We’re looking for a consultant who understands how complex facilities are actually built —and can use that experience to critically evaluate a contractor’s schedule.

The right person understands construction sequencing, procurement, MEP systems, turnover and commissioning well enough to look beyond the dates and identify assumptions that may not reflect how the work can actually be executed.

Scheduling experience is important, but deep software expertise is not. Construction judgment, analytical thinking, and the ability to communicate what matters to an owner are more important.

You’ll work directly with PDC leadership and our clients, with an immediate focus on healthcare capital projects. We’re looking for someone who understands the unique challenges of building and renovating complex healthcare facilities.

Remote / Flexible Location | Travel as Required

$100,000–$125,000 Base Salary + Performance Bonus

What You’ll Do

  • Independently review contractor baseline schedules and monthly updates.
  • Evaluate whether activity durations, sequencing, procurement assumptions, phasing, turnover, and commissioning plans are realistic.
  • Use your construction experience to identify risks or assumptions that may be obscured within the schedule.
  • Understand critical and near-critical paths and determine whether they accurately reflect how the project will be built.
  • Identify emerging schedule risks and explain their potential operational and financial impacts to owners.
  • Evaluate recovery plans, change orders, and schedule impacts when needed.
  • Develop concise executive reporting that translates complex project information into actionable insight.
  • Participate directly in discussions with owners, contractors, designers, and project teams.
  • Help continue to develop PDC Partners’ Schedule Accountability practice.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in construction, construction consulting, project management, project controls, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of construction means, methods, sequencing, and project delivery.
  • Experience delivering or consulting on healthcare construction projects, including renovations within active or occupied healthcare facilities.
  • Working knowledge of CPM scheduling and the ability to critically analyze a construction schedule.
  • Understanding of MEP systems, procurement, commissioning, and project turnover.
  • Strong analytical judgment—you naturally question whether an assumption makes sense rather than simply accepting what the schedule shows.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues clearly to both project teams and executive stakeholders.
  • Strong written communication skills and comfort developing client-facing analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of assignments.
  • Experience working for an owner, contractor, scheduling consultant, or project-controls advisory firm can all be relevant. Healthcare and/or mission-critical experience is particularly valuable but not required.

How We Work

PDC is intentionally building a different kind of consulting environment.

High autonomy. Low bureaucracy. High expectations.

We believe talented professionals do their best work when they’re trusted to manage their time and responsibilities. We care about producing excellent work, taking care of our clients, and delivering on commitments—not where or when you sit at a desk.

There aren’t layers of management, rigid corporate processes, or expectations that you spend time in an office simply to be seen.

There will be client meetings, deadlines, and occasional travel that require your availability. Outside of those commitments, you’ll have considerable flexibility in how you structure your work.

As an early member of PDC Partners, you’ll also have the opportunity to help shape the firm and our Schedule Accountability practice rather than stepping into a predefined role within a large organization.

About PDC Partners

PDC Partners is an owner-focused capital project advisory firm specializing in the planning, governance, and delivery of complex capital investments.

Our clients operate technically advanced and mission-critical facilities where project outcomes have real implications for operations, revenue, and the communities they serve.

Our Schedule Accountability practice provides independent schedule analysis throughout the project lifecycle—helping owners understand not simply whether a project is tracking to its baseline, but whether the baseline itself is credible, efficient, and executable.

We combine technical construction experience with executive-level insight to give owners greater visibility and confidence in their capital programs.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: $100,000–$125,000, depending on experience.

The position also includes a performance-based annual bonus and benefits, along with significant flexibility and autonomy in how and where you work.

Interested?

If this sounds like the kind of environment you’d thrive in, we’d like to hear from you.

Apply through LinkedIn or contact us directly at tburggraf@pdc-partners.com.
